CPP is proud to announce the release of MBTI®Complete,
the genuine Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®)
instrument available online and packaged with a gold standard interactive
basic interpretation. Using MBTI®Complete, HR
professionals spend less time interpreting personality assessment results
and more time improving organizational performance. This online product boosts
training effectiveness by automating training participants' introduction
to personality type.
“MBTI®Complete will streamline deployment
of the assessment for organizations currently using the Myers-Briggs tool,” says
Jeff Hayes , co-president of CPP, Inc. “It frees practitioners from
having to provide in-person interpretations, allowing them to instead spend
that time with clients applying type knowledge to their situation. Practitioners
contribute tremendous value to clients and work teams with their insight and
individualized development counseling. MBTI®Complete
enables them to get to the heart of the matter faster.” Learn more about MBTI®Complete >>

Q & A with Allen Hammer, Ph.D
MBTI®Complete author Allen Hammer, PhD., recently participated in a live Web cast in which members of the type community were given a chance to preview MBTI®Complete and to ask questions. Here are a few questions audience members asked Dr. Hammer and his responses.
What was the inspiration for MBTI®Complete?
The driving force behind this entire project, which motivated all of us to create
MBTI®Complete and to invest so much time on this
was the dream of Isabel Myers' to make the MBTI instrument as widely available
as possible, and by doing so, to help more people learn about themselves and
grow.
How did you approach the job of creating an online interpretation?
MBTI®Complete is an "expert system" in that the content embodies the expertise and knowledge of a type professional conducting an MBTI interpretation. This is reflected not only in the language used in the interpretation, but in the process itself. What I've tried to do with MBTI®Complete is to take the "best of the best" from hundreds of interpretation experiences and to write the content as if speaking to a client. It represents what we all try to teach and train and gives a client a basic standard, professional interpretation. However, I was not alone in creating this standard. Peter and Kathy Myers and the editorial team at CPP reviewed every single word, and the trustees of the Myers & Briggs Foundation conducted an in-depth review as well before giving their blessing.
What about the process of verifying one's type?
The most important development goal was to build a verification process into MBTI®Complete, as this is a vital component of MBTI interpretations. As type practitioners, we all believe that each person owns his/her type. The MBTI®Complete verification process which is backed by decades of research has been designed to elicit a type reaction. Just like in a face-to-face interpretation, the user here gets to see the reported type and is able to go through the interpretation and choose the type that fits him/her best. Also, as in a face-to-face interpretation, the person gets two chances at verification. The first is when each preference is presented individually, and the second is at the end when the person gets to verify his/her whole type. It's also important to note that the person can chose if they desire to review all 16 type descriptions before deciding. They are not limited to choosing between their reported and estimated type.
