Teamwork

The Secret to High Performing Teams

MBTI® type theory is vital for developing a better understanding of ones self. When applied to team dynamics, type theory provides insights that are both powerful and profound as explained in this excerpt from Introduction to Type® and Teams.

According to Mary McCaulley, the MBTI® tool allows us to make predictions about team effectiveness based on psychological type, such as the following:

  1. The more similar the types on a team, the more readily the team members will understand each other.
  2. The more dissimilar the types on a team, the slower the understanding.
  3. Groups with high similarity will reach decisions more quickly but are more likely to make errors due to inadequate representation of all viewpoints.
  4. Groups with members of many different types will reach decisions more slowly (and painfully) but may reach better decisions because more viewpoints are covered.
  5. Teams with only a single representative of a certain preference (e.g. only one Introvert) may fail to appreciate the gifts/skills associated with that preference and may view that member as different.
  6. Teams that come to appreciate and use different types may experience less conflict.
  7. Successful teams with members of many different types promote the personal development of team members by encouraging learning from the gifts of other types.

Unlock the Hidden Value in Your Assessment Data

Are you getting the most out of the data generated from your assessments? Data only becomes valuable information when it is relevant to improving your business. CPP's Research Services Division helps you move beyond raw data to gain insights into your company, your customers and your competitors. Through its Modeling, Reporting, and Interpretation Services, our Research Services can perform statistical analyses and create customized reports ranging from the simple—like customized MBTI® type tables—to the complex—like confirmatory factor analysis.

How is aggregate data used? A leading provider of education and training programs for healthcare professionals and organizations uses an interpretive report describing the overall distribution of MBTI® types in the healthcare industry as part of its leadership development program. The information gives participants valuable insights about their type preferences within the context of the overall healthcare field.

A custom interpretive report describing the overall distribution of MBTI® types in your organization and compared to your industry can provide valuable insights into improving the way your company does business. You can work with the Research Team to develop a custom report or choose from eight prepared industry reports including Healthcare, Financial Services and Pharmaceuticals.

CPP Research Services offers a variety of services that can be easily tailored to your specific requirements and needs:

  • Data Extraction
