Carl E. Thoresen, Ph.D.Carl E. Thoresen, Ph.D.

Carl has been a CPP Director since 1986, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board and a member of CPP’s Audit and Compensation Committees.  He is Professor Emeritus of Education and, by courtesy, Psychology and Psychiatry/Behavioral Science at Stanford University.  He is also a Senior Fellow at Santa Clara University in Spirituality and Health Institute.  Elected to the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, Carl is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Association of Psychological Sciences, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine as well as a Guggenheim Fellow and a Fellow at the Center for the Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.  Carl served as President of the Society of Counseling Psychology in the American Psychological Association where he is a Fellow in several divisions, including Counseling Psychology, Health Psychology, Education and the Psychology of Religion. Recently he has been examining with others the role of spiritual factors, such as spiritual modeling and spiritual self-efficacy in health and well being using social cognitive theory.  He has served on various expert panels, such as the Expert Panel of the National Institutes of Health on the role of Spirituality, Religion and Health.  His latest book, with Thomas Plante, is entitled Spirituality, Science and Health (2007).

 

Jeffrey Hayes, Co-PresidentJeffrey Hayes, President and Chief Executive Officer

Jeffrey Hayes is President and Chief Executive Officer of CPP, Inc. and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2005. Previously, Mr. Hayes served as Co-President, overseeing Finance and Accounting, Professional Consulting Services, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Mr. Hayes has also served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Vice President of Operations at CPP. He joined CPP in 1987 and throughout his tenure has led corporate-wide strategic planning, provided corporate visioning, and overseen business operations. Among his many contributions are the 2007 acquisition of APP, the company’s Asia Pacific distributor; the launch of CPP’s Professional Consulting Services practice in 2005; the conceptual development and implementation of CPP’s Technology Division; the vision and transformation of CPP into a customer-focused organization with the implementation of its customer relationship management (CRM) initiative; and the acquisitions of Xicom, Inc. and the Strong Interest Inventory® instrument.

Prior to joining CPP, Mr. Hayes held a number of management roles for international companies such as Marcelo Fiberglass Corporation in the Philippines and McBer and Company in Boston, Massachusetts.  He received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

Wayne F. Cascio, Ph.D.Wayne F. Cascio, Ph.D.

Wayne has been a CPP Director since 1996, and currently serves on CPP’s Compensation Committee.  Wayne is US Bank Term Professor of Management at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. He has held academic appointments at Florida International University, U.C. Berkeley, University of Hawaii, University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), University of Geneva (Switzerland), and the University of Hong Kong.  He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Geneva in 2004.  He has published 21 books and more than 125 articles and book chapters, and is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the Academy of Management and the American Psychological Association. Currently he also serves as 2007 Board Chair of the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation.

 

Dalton Martin, M.S.Dalton Martin, M.S.

Dalton has been a CPP Director since 1997 and currently serves as Chair of CPP’s Audit Committee.  He served as a Research Engineer at Stanford Research Institute; co-founded and served as an officer of Vidar Corporation for 20 years (Vidar was eventually sold to Continental Telephone and then to TRW); was an Executive V.P. for Telenova, Inc.; was co-founder and corporate secretary of JetTrain; and was a V.P. of Finance and CFO for Monterey Telecommunications.  Dalton has previously served on the Boards of Vidar Corporation; Develco Corp.; Telenova, Inc.; JetTrain Corporation and Dianatel Corporation.

 

Christina Maslach, Ph.D.Christina Maslach, Ph.D.

Christina has been a CPP Director since 1988, and is the Chair of CPP’s Compensation Committee.  She is currently Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Professor of Psychology at U.C. Berkeley.  She is author of the CPP-published Maslach Burnout Inventory and is the author of numerous articles and books, including Banishing Burnout: Six Strategies for Improving Your Relationship with Work.  Christina received recognition as Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation and The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, has been president of the Western Psychological Association, is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has received the Distinguished Teaching Award from U.C. Berkeley.

 

Marion McGovern, M.B.A.Marion McGovern, M.B.A.

Marion has been a CPP Director since 1998 and is a member of CPP’s Audit Committee.  She is currently an Adjunct Professor at USF, and Chairperson of M2 Inc., a human capital consulting firm with offices throughout California, which she founded in 1988 and grew to over $50 million in sales.  M2 Inc. has been featured in Fast Company, Fortune, and the Staffing Industry Report.  She is the author of A New Brand of Expertise (2002), is a former Director of the American Liver Foundation, and has appeared as an expert on workplace trends on The Bloomberg Report, NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, KRON TV and KCBS radio.

 

R. Wayne OlerR. Wayne Oler

Wayne was appointed a CPP Director in 2004 and serves on the Audit Committee.  He has worked extensively in the publishing business and has been co-founder of Canfield Press (now Harpers West); founder of The Benjamin-Cummings Publishing Company; founder of Addison-Wesley Publishing Company’s Health Sciences Division; founding director of Course Technology, Inc; President and COO of Addison-Wesley Publishing Company; CEO of Krames Communications; and CEO of International Thompson Education Group.  He has also served as Director and Executive Committee Member for the Association of American Publishers.
