Management Team

Jeffrey Hayes, President and Chief Executive Officer 

Jeffrey Hayes is President and Chief Executive Officer of CPP, Inc. and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2005. Previously, Mr. Hayes served as Co-President, overseeing Finance and Accounting, Professional Consulting Services, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Mr. Hayes has also served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Vice President of Operations at CPP. He joined CPP in 1987 and throughout his tenure has led corporate-wide strategic planning, provided corporate visioning, and overseen business operations. Among his many contributions are the 2007 acquisition of APP, the company’s Asia Pacific distributor; the launch of CPP’s Professional Consulting Services practice in 2005; the conceptual development and implementation of CPP’s Technology Division; the vision and transformation of CPP into a customer-focused organization with the implementation of its customer relationship management (CRM) initiative; and the acquisitions of Xicom, Inc., and the Strong Interest Inventory® instrument. Prior to joining CPP, Mr. Hayes held a number of management roles for international companies such as Marcelo Fiberglass Corporation in the Philippines and McBer and Company in Boston, Massachusetts. He received a B.A. with a major in English from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dennis Diligent, Senior Vice President of Global Sales

Dennis Diligent joined CPP in 2007. He brings more than 20 years of experience in building, motivating, and leading international top-tier sales teams and channel partners to his role as Senior Vice President of Global Sales. Dennis is responsible for strategically leading CPP’s global sales efforts which encompass both products and Professional Services. Prior to joining CPP, Dennis held senior global leadership positions with the Thomson Corporation and Sylvan Learning Systems. He holds a BA in International Studies/Political Science from the University of South Florida and an M.A. in International Administration from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Calvin W. Finch, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer

Calvin W. Finch joined CPP in 2002 and brings more than 25 years of financial management and business experience to his current role. He oversees the Finance & Accounting and Legal & Licensing Divisions and is a member of the Board of Directors. Cal was instrumental in the 2010 acquisition of Hemisphere Consulting, the company’s distributor in Singapore, the 2007 acquisition of APP, the company's Asia Pacific distributor, and the acquisition of the Strong Interest Inventory® instrument in 2004. Cal is a member of the board of directors of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest professional association devoted to human resource management. Prior to joining CPP, Cal was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Coppola Group of Companies and Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Zoetrope Group, Francis Coppola's entertainment companies; Vice President and Corporate Controller of New World Entertainment, Ltd.; and a Manager in the Audit and Business Advisory Services division of Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a Certified Public Accountant and received his B.S. in accounting from the University of Utah.

Suresh Balasubramanian, General Manager/Senior Vice President of Products, Programs and Marketing

Suresh Balasubramanian joined CPP in 2016 and is responsible for leading the products, programs and marketing efforts. With more than 25 years of experience in multinational Fortune 100 high-technology companies and early-stage start-ups, he brings to his role expertise in scaling and growing complex global businesses to deliver revenue and profit growth. Prior to joining CPP, Suresh was Chief Executive Officer of LiveHive, where he successfully turned around the company from a pure technology provider to an award-winning sales acceleration platform. He also held senior leadership positions at Armor5, Adobe, Everdream (acquired by Dell), Macrovision (Rovi), Silicon Graphics, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC). Suresh has served on the Board of Directors of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and the Business Software Alliance (BSA). He graduated with honors from the Wharton Business School with an M.B.A. focused on finance and strategic management and holds a B.S. in computer science from the National Institute of Technology, India, and an M.S. in computer science from The Ohio State University.

Bill Chapman, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Bill Chapman joined CPP in 2015. He has a successful track record as an IT and Product Executive in technology, manufacturing, acquisitions, ERP deployments, eCommerce, and commercial product design. Prior to joining CPP, he has been a Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Business Technology Officer, and Software Research Scientist, as well as founding a successful startup. Bill’s experience is based on various industries including manufacturing, distribution, services, channel selling, retail, R & D, warehousing and logistics. Bill graduated in his MBA program Summa cum laude and class valedictorian, and holds a B.S., Quantitative Analysis.

Thaddeus G. Stephens, Vice President, Corporate Development, General Counsel and Secretary

Thad Stephens joined CPP in 2011. Thad oversees the Legal & Licensing Divisions and serves as corporate secretary to the Board of Directors. Prior to joining CPP, Thad was Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs at MegaPath Inc. (formerly Covad Communications), a national telecommunications services provider; Vice President and co-founder of Equilar, Inc., a provider of executive compensation data and analytics; and an associate in the corporate legal departments at three major law firms, including Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he started his legal career. Thad received his B.A. in English from the Oberlin College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School.

Nicole Trapasso, Vice President, Human Resources & Organizational Development

Nicole Trapasso joined CPP in 2000. She brings to her role more than 20 years of experience in leading innovative HR management and organizational development with a practical focus on using best practices to build and sustain a learning culture that is supportive and empowering . During her tenure, Nicole has instituted cascading goals, performance management, succession planning, culture surveys, professional development, workforce planning, Be Better University, and numerous other initiatives that build accountable, resourceful, and resilient cultures where talented people want to work. Prior to joining CPP, she was HR Manager at First World Communications, responsible for managing the full spectrum of HR from recruitment, management training, and employee relations to compensation, benefits, and payroll. She holds a B.A. in art history from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

Board of Directors

Marion McGovern, M.B.A.

Marion is the Chair of the Board at CPP and has been a CPP Director since 1998, serving as the Audit Chair for the past 6 years. She is currently a Director at The Alliance for CEOs, where she facilitates leadership development through a CEO peer exchange. Additionally, she’s the founder and former CEO of M Squared Consulting Inc., a human capital consulting firm with offices throughout California. She also founded Collabrus, an independent contractor compliance firm and is the author of Thriving in the Gig Economy (2017) and A New Brand of Expertise (2002). She’s appeared as an expert on workplace trends on numerous radio shows, podcasts, conferences and TV programs. She is currently on the Board and Business Development Committee of The Front Porch, a California Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with 14 facilities in the United States ranging from elderly housing to assisted living and dementia care. Additionally, McGovern is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Gold and the National Association of Corporate Directors. McGovern has a BA from Boston University and an MBA from the Haas Business School at Berkeley.

Wayne F. Cascio, Ph.D.

Wayne has been a CPP Director since 1996, and currently serves as Chair of CPP’s Compensation Committee. Wayne is Robert H. Reynolds Distinguished Chair in Global Leadership at the University of Colorado Denver. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Geneva in 2004, he won the Losey award for human resources research from the Society for Human Resource Management in 2010, and received the Distinguished Scientific Contributions award from the Society for I/O Psychology in 2013. In 2016, the World Federation of People Management Associations awarded him its Lifetime Achievement Award. He has published 30 books, more than 200 articles and book chapters, and is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association, and the Australian HR Institute. He is a past Board Chair of the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation, a past president of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and a former member of the Academy of Management’s Board of Governors. Currently he is an editor of the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS).

Cynthia Cleveland

CPP, Inc. Board Member Cynthia Cleveland is Founder & CEO of BroadThink, a global media, marketing and branding firm serving major entertainment and consumer product industry clients. She has held this position since 2002, and from 2011 has concurrently served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Advisors for BroadLit®, Inc., a digital publishing company she founded, which holds a vast library of romance ebooks, mobile games and merchandise and filmed entertainment. Prior to BroadThink and BroadLit, Cleveland was Universal Studios’ Worldwide President of Consumer Products & Games (1998-2001) and U.S. President of Licensing and Merchandising (1996-1998). Prior to her tenure at Universal Studios, Cleveland was President and CEO of educational retail toy chain Imaginarium, and President of Teleflora from 1988 until 1993. Cynthia was named one of the 100 Visionary Leaders by Real Leaders magazine. In addition, she also serves on the boards of Young Presidents’ Organization, on the International Networks Committee representing 26,000 members worldwide, the Indiana University Board of Visitors, and is a Trustee for the Committee for Economic Development. Cleveland holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California; and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University. In addition to her extensive experience Ms. Cleveland is committed to helping female executives prepare for and attain board appointments, co-chairs Women Corporate Directors BoardNext pilot program in Los Angeles. She also mentors a number of female entrepreneurs and launched several Lean In Circles for young women supporting our next generation of female leaders.

Dalton Martin, M.S.

Dalton has been a CPP Director since 1996 and currently serves on CPP’s Audit Committee. He served as a Research Engineer at Stanford Research Institute; co-founded and served as an officer of Vidar Corporation for 20 years (Vidar was eventually sold to Continental Telephone and then to TRW); was an Executive V.P. for Telenova, Inc.; was co-founder and corporate secretary of JetTrain; and was a V.P. of Finance and CFO for Monterey Telecommunications. Dalton has previously served on the Boards of Vidar Corporation; Develco Corp.; Telenova, Inc.; JetTrain Corporation and Dianatel Corporation.

Christina Maslach, Ph.D.

Christina has been a CPP Director since 1988. She is a Professor of Psychology, Emerita at the University of California, Berkeley, where she served twice as the Chair of the Berkeley Faculty, in addition to serving as the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Instructional Technology. She is author of the Maslach Burnout Inventory, which was first published by CPP in 1981, and is the author of numerous articles and books, including The Truth About Burnout and Burnout: Six Strategies for Improving Your Relationship with Work. Currently, she is the founding Co-Editor in Chief of the new e-journal, Burnout Research . Christina received national recognition as Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation and The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. She has been president of the Western Psychological Association, is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has received the Distinguished Teaching Award, Faculty Service Award, and the Berkeley Citation (the University’s highest honor) from U.C. Berkeley.
